Maria Innocentia Hummel had a true gift. Her artistic talent inspired many in hard times.  Displaying her artwork in postcards and newspapers was where Franz Goebel found her.  Her detailed expressions of children and how easily she seemed to capture the innocence of each child grabbed the attention of many.  Soon after Franz saw her artwork he came to her and they became partners.  It is in this partnership that the legacy and fine artwork of Maria Hummel was born.

Since Goebel was in the porcelain industry and looking for a creative and beautiful piece to create their figurines finding Maria Hummel was a gift in disguise.  Together with their partnership the Goebel Hummel figurines were born and a legacy created.  A legacy of the fine artwork of Maria Hummel that has continued to amaze the world that continues today.  It is a legacy that the short life of Maria Hummel left behind for the world to know.
